Ghost Tours in St. Augustine

You don't have to be Hamlet to see ghosts in St. Augustine. The city’s turbulent 440+ year past includes pirates, wars between the Spanish, French, U.S., massacres and outbreaks of yellow fever and other infectious diseases.

Thankfully the past is behind us and you can now enjoy our #1 rated local tour companies who offer plenty of opportunity to see and hear the Ghosts of St. Augustine. Starting in the Old Spanish Quarter you can take walking, trolley, carriage and even sailing ghost tours, all accompanied by licensed guides and the paranormal. The tours are entertaining, historically accurate and great for older children.

Places to meet the ghosts

  • Built on a village of the Tolomato Indians during the 1700s, the Tolomato Cemetery has long been a favorite place to watch for ghosts, orbs and spirits on moonlit nights.
  • Visit graves of victims from an 1821 Yellow Fever epidemic at the Huguenot Cemetery.
  • The Old Drugstore sits on an Indian burial ground.
  • Castillo de San Marcos is always a good bet. Lots of tales from this fort built in 1672.
  • Guests of the St. Francis Inn, built in 1791 have reported numerous sightings of ghosts.
  • Late at night and near the City Gates, a ghostly image of a little girl has been reported to police.

A Ghostly Experience - www.aghostlyexperience.com - 904.461.1009

Florida Living Magazine readers voted this the #1 guided tour in the State. You can experience the fright and history daily including holidays starting at 8:00pm (9:30pm Friday and Saturday). Cost is about $12 per person and discount tickets are available. The walking tour leaves from the north end of St. George St. across from the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse. Your human guides in period costume take you back hundreds of years (but fortunately only thousands of feet) to the area north of the plaza including 2 cemeteries, haunted Bed & Breakfasts and other fascinating sites. For those interested in a spooky nautical adventure, A Ghostly Experience offers a cruise around Matanzas Bay aboard the haunted schooner Freedom.
